What do the energy industry, leaders of Canada’s top enterprises, environmental groups, leading academics and policy think tanks all have in common? They have all gone on the public record in calling for a new set of energy and environmental policies for Canada.
Canada faces a broad set of energy and environmental challenges. The common message from these diverse groups has been that “we need a Canadian plan for energy, and we need it now”. How do we know this? The Canada West Foundation conducted an extensive review of publications and public statements from stakeholder groups on the public record between 2009 and 2011. The result was a distillation of eight common themes that run throughout the debate on energy and environmental issues in Canada.
