Energy Investment for future breakthroughs
There is a government agency which is part of the Department of Energy called the Advance Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) that held a conference in Washington, D.C. last month. Several advisors to Energy Scienomic, Inc publisher of the new book Power Plug-In were there.
We all know just how difficult it is to develop technology that changes the world. But thee are success stories. An example is what Apple has done with their products under the tutelage of Steve Jobs. This same kind of innovation will happen with energy but only by investment and strong leadership. Unfortunately this burst of creativity rarely occurs with government involvement. Apple had no government involvement. The energy industry does have government involvement.
